Sometimes I tell my students that one can cure racism by being color blind about as well as one can cure cancer by not looking at it.
If you find out you have cancer, the first thing you want to do is get treatment: sign me up for chemo! It’s not going to go away if you ignore it—and neither will racism.
However, color blindness can be an excellent way of perpetuating white privilege—not looking at it and letting it remain unnoticed is precisely the first step in allowing it to continue.

I HATE that “I’m color-blind/I don’t see race” BS. Totally agree with you — it’s racist privilege-denying garbage, and your analogy for it is great.
Plus, there are people who are actually colorblind so the term is offensive in that way, too.
