In the post racial society that we are purported to be living in by political pundits since the election of president Barrack Obama, one might argue that the term “people of color” is a meaningless term. In this edition of Ikonoklast Speaks! I prove just the opposite as I define cultural imperialism and cultural hegemony. Just because Obama has made it cool and hip to render one’s self race-neutral, doesn’t mean that this is an actual state of being that can be attained. Blonde wigs, blue contacts, and other forms of supposed “universal” attributes, do have a cultural connation to them. Cultural imperialism and cultural hegemony must be overcome in order to organize effectively and efficiently.
