Petition to Ban Racist Performance
A Facebook petition to ban a drag queen who performs in blackface is circulating. You are asked to sign it, post it, and forward the petition on to those you know.
Shirley Q Liquor is one of the drag personas of Chuck Knipp, a white male who performs in blackface and capitalizes on racist stereotypes of black women.
Organizers’ goal is to acquire 1000 signatures by October 11, 2010, National Coming Out Day. “When we reach our goal, volunteers will hand deliver this petition to LGBTQIQ businesses and organizations to encourage them never to book this racist act.”
