National Guests Honor Black Panther Leader In Houston
On Saturday, July 24, 2010 the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Carl Bernard Hampton will be commemorated at 6:00pm at the historic Emancipation Park 3018 Dowling St. Houston , Texas . The commemoration will include: speakers, entertainment, food and community service. The commemoration is free and open to the public. National guest include:

(Organizer, Archivist and Historian Black Panther Party)
Robert Hillary King
(Freed member of Angola 3 after 29 years in solitary confinement, Author: From The Bottom of The Heap)
Charles “Boko” Freeman
(Former member Houston Chapter Black Panther Party and People’s Party II, comrade of Carl B. Hampton)
Dr. Charles Jones
(Associate Professor and Founding Chair, Department of African- American Studies Georgia State University , Author: The Black Panther Party Reconsidered)
Carl Hampton, a dynamic young Black Panther leader and Chairman of Houston’s People’s Party II was assassinated by the Houston Police Department on July 26, 1970. This blow against the Black Power Movement in Houston of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s was struck in the heart of the Black/African community on Dowling Street .
